Dr. Gloria Lopez

Dr. Lopez is a Los Angeles native who earned her B.A. in History from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a M.A. in History from California State University, Fullerton. She’s returned to the CSU as an Assistant Professor of History at Chico State.

Her research addresses the role heritage and ethnic diversity played in fashioning the public memory of Los Angeles during much of the twentieth century at the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument, the birthplace of the city. As a first-gen Latina scholar, Dr. Lopez is committed empowering Latinx students to thrive in higher education by fostering a sense of belonging in student-centered spaces and advocating for more equitable and inclusive institutional policies and practices. She currently serves as the Faculty in Residence of El Centro: Latinx Resource Center.
